'You say, fortify, reaction, you divide'

I have no idea where to start this blog. Or where it is going to head, so how about i just unload and see if we can put some pieces together.

Im so sick of being thrown to the too hard basket. To the “we dont care” basket. I am so passionate about my sport, and I also have so much respect for athletes of all events however, the way our sport is heading is making me hate on my fellow competitors. Why you ask? Well there are a ton of reasons, but lets start at the surface.

Usain Bolt is a phenomenal athlete, but he is killing it for everyone else. In Oslo the meet appeared to have absolutely no interest in the marketing of other events whatsoever. The entire telecast kept referring to their “countdown to Bolt” while other athletes, who are also world champions, Olympic champions just filled the time in until he ran for 20 seconds or less. Don’t get me wrong, I think Bolt is doing a lot of good for our sport too, and is a major drawcard for ticket sales, but package the meets into athletes of world class quality across diverse fields and give them the chance to shine. What is going to happen if Bolt ruptures his Achilles, or tears a hamstring and is out for the season? The meets will all suffer because who wants to see Tyson Gay run or “the others” jump in the sand, over a bar or throwing stuff on the grass??
