We have been in Daegu for just over a week now, more of the Australian team as well as teams from other countries so the atmosphere is growing.

During the past week I have had a number of interesting experiences including a train trip to the markets in town, visited the local swimming pool (something I will never forget) and had blood taken for blood profiling. We have also had some great training sessions as a relay team which is pretty exciting.
On Tuesday I had the morning off training and so I headed into the city of Daegu to explore some of the shopping opportunities. Daegu really has gone world championships crazy! There posters, Bill boards and HUGE cut outs of athletes everywhere. I am hoping that this means that there will be big crowds for the championships. Our shopping day was pretty cool in the main city you can get ANYTHING, there are rows and rows of up market sports stores for every brand you can imagine. I must say pretty overwhelming as there is just so much that you end up with nothing. What amazes me is the contrast between the main town and the markets. The markets consist of hundreds of small stalls selling all little nick knacks, bags and lots of textiles, there is the constant smell of warm meat and fish which really does make you want to gag.
