World Championships are over for me

Well, the 2011 IAAF World Championships, Daegu, South Korea are now over for me!

Yesterday I ran in the Australian Team in the W4x400m relay where we finished 6th in our heat and 16th overall. Our running order was Caitlin Sargent, Caitlin Pincott, myself and Annaliese Rubie. Although relay splits are never really accurate, they were approximately 53.8, 51.9, 52.8 and 53.6.

Finishing inside the top 16 was really important because only 16 teams can qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games. An average of your countries’ 2 best relay times is taken and then the top 16 teams are eligible to run at the Olympics. During the Australian domestic season coming up there will be other opportunities for the girls to post faster times, but at this stage it was a graet achievement to get the baton around.
