Well the last couple of weeks the weather has definitely started to warm up on the Gold Coast, which unfortunately brings out the wildlife that you don’t like to see while you are training hard in some of your favourite training venues.

TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2011

The Friday before the race I travelled to from my base in Nijmegen (below) to Amsterdam to settle in and finish off all last minute preparations. The race hotel was perfectly situated near a park, which worked out great with only a couple of easy runs to do before the race.

Altitude week 1 (Let the fun begin)

As the plane took off for LA on Friday any soreness that I had from City to Surf had disappeared, I was looking forward to arriving in Boulder and getting stuck into training for the next 6 weeks before heading to Europe for my taper and the marathon that awaits.

My City2Surf 2011

Before leaving the gold coast to head to Sydney for the city to surf I checked the weather forecast and it showed that it was going to rain. I was still hoping that it wasn’t as there was still 2 days till race day and anything is possible with the weather these days. I am not getting my excuses out early but every runner is different and this runner does not like the rain.
