Dibaba to attack world indoor 5000m record in Boston

Tirunesh Dibaba looked imperious at the Bupa Great Edinburgh International Cross Country 8km race last month and the double Olympic champion tests her mettle at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on February 6, where the 24-year-old will be attempting to regain her world indoor 5000m record, which archrival Meseret Defar took from her last year.

IAAF World Athletics Final - Day 1Dibaba holds three of the four fastest indoor times in history, including her former world record of 14:27.42 but Defar lowered Dibaba?s world record to 14:24.37 at the GE Galan meeting in Stockholm last year but Dibaba, who holds the world outdoor record at 14:11.15, looks in the shape to regain her world record. As well as a commanding win on the snow in Edinburgh, Dibaba outlined her strength by smashing the world 15km record in Nijmegen by 27 seconds last November.
