St Lawrence sets PB in Ostrava

Australian 5000m champion Ben St Lawrence has set a new personal best over 3000m at the Golden Spike Meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

St Lawrence finished tenth out of the field of nineteen, clocking a time of 7:49.28 to slash six seconds off his previous personal best, set in 2007 in winning the NSW 3000m title.

Kenya's Yusuf Biwott took out the race in a meet record and world leading time of 7:31.68 by half a second from compatriot John Kemboi (7:32.16) and former world 1500m and 5000m champion Bernard Lagat (7:32.49).

St Lawrence's performance moves him to 14th on the Australian all-time list, and the second New South Welshman behind Andrew Lloyd's state record of 7:45.94.
