Australian Olympic Committee boss John Coates has thrown his heavyweight support behind steeplechaser Genevieve LaCaze's bid to claim a berth on the London Games team.
LaCaze - who has spent the past four years studying and competing at the University of Florida - missed Athletics Australia's qualification deadline by little more than a day.
The 22-year-old from Queensland bettered the qualifying standard with a personal best of nine minutes 41.15 seconds in Indianapolis on Wednesday.
But her breakthrough run came shortly after AA announced its 54-strong team for London.
LaCaze is one of at least three Australian athletes to have officially asked AA to reconsider their non-selection in the team.
